In 1955, Chester Travelstead, Dean of Education at USC, gave a speech [pdf] in which he advocated for compliance with the Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education ruling.

Please join us in the Museum of Education on September 30, 2025 at 3 p.m. for a reading of his speech followed by a discussion with panelists Cecil Williams, founder of the South Carolina Civil Rights Museum and Derek Black, professor of law, moderated by Daniella Cook Sumpter, professor of education.
