Nomination Form

In 2023, The College of Education at the University of South Carolina implemented Champions of Education awards to recognize alumni for their exemplary dedication, service, and excellence in the field of education. The educators who are nominated will be evaluated on their professional activities, educational leadership, philosophy, service, and influence on students and colleagues. 

The Selection Committee will review nominations using a blind review process. Seven awards will be given each year from the following categories:

  1. Retired Educator Award (Nominee has 10 years or more experience in the education field)
  2. Veteran Teacher Award (Nominee has 10 years or more experience in the classroom)
  3. Outstanding New Teacher Award (Nominee is in their first five years of teaching)
  4. Educator Working Outside the Classroom Award
  5. Diversity and Equity Award
  6. Distinguished Service Award
  7. Sallie S. Ortmann Innovative Educator Award

Honorees will be recognized during the Celebrating Champions of Education Gala.  

 

Please read the steps below prior to making your submission to ensure your application presents your nominee at their best.

  1. Review the award descriptions and evaluate criteria to decide which award your candidate best fits.
  2. Consider reaching out to your nominee to inform them that you are nominating them for an award. Preference will be given to nominees who can attend the gala on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
  3. Complete and submit the nomination form by the deadline of Monday, February 3, 2025.
  4. Once the nomination is formally submitted, it is not possible to make changes. Please make sure you have clearly reviewed all submission criteria and your application has been successfully submitted.
