Internships
Integral to your training, you will complete a 600-hour supervised internship in a state agency, community program, or private organization. This clinical field-based experience can be fulfilled full-time over a single full semester or part-time over two full semesters. In special cases, you can also arrange for an out-of-state internship. Your internship experience will provide you with an opportunity to develop and enhance your skills within the context of a real practice setting to prepare you for the role and responsibilities of an entry-level professional counselor.
Student Involvement
Students may individualize their professional preparation by electing to participate in a wide range of counseling and rehabilitation activities or by working with faculty members on rehabilitation research projects. We also encourage all students to become involved in professional counseling organizations such as the American Counseling Association, American Rehabilitation Counseling Association, International Association of Addictions and Offender Counselors (IAAOC), and the National Career Development Association (NCDA).
