What is Florence?
We are the regional clinical campus for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia educating and providing opportunities for third and fourth year medical students. Established in 2014, our campus has office and educational space located in downtown Florence at the Francis Marion University Carter Center, along with two tertiary care hospitals, a large federally qualified health care center and multiple independent specialty practice offices that make up our exceptional clinical learning environment.
About the Campus
The administration offices for the Florence Regional Campus are located within the Luther F. Carter Center for Health Sciences Complex in downtown Florence, S.C. While our students spend the majority of their time in the clinical space, we hold monthly educational opportunities within the the space that encompass medical didactic education, career building, financial literacy, community outreach/partnerships and scholarly opportunites for students to participate in among others.
Our Partners
Our clinical partners are dedicated to providing the best educational environment possible for our third and fourth year students as they complete their core rotations, an acting internship and a number of clinical electives.
Becoming a Community Leader
Our students have the opportunity to gain the skills necessary to become leaders in their future communities through working with interdisciplinary health care teams, the local school system, businesses, charities, and government.
