Celebrating Genetic Counseling
The Genetic Counseling Program held an event at Riverbanks Zoo on Saturday, June 17, 2023, to honor Edwards’ legacy and leadership as she retired from USC. Alumni from all over the country attended the evening reception that featured words from previous students, colleagues, and the Dean regarding her leadership, guidance and friendship, and impact on the profession. The event coincided with the 10th anniversary of the Genetic Counseling Forever Endowment Fund and focused efforts on growing its balance to further support current students.
Past Graduate Program Reunion Events
The Biomedical Sciences Program reached its 40th anniversary in 2021, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic still affecting in-person events, we rescheduled celebratory events until the following year on Friday, April 1. Two BMS grad-specific events were added to the Alumni Reunion Weekend, which included an alumni/student speed network luncheon and evening downtown reception.
Due to a low result in RSVPs, both events were canceled.
On Friday, March 6, we hosted the 50th Anniversary of Nurse Anesthesia at 701 Whaley in Columbia. Not only did this event honor a program that has been around even before the USC School of Medicine, but it also was the first time a graduate program celebrated a reunion. The evening included remarks from the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director and 2005 graduate, Kevin LeBlanc, PhD, MNA, CRNA, as well as Dean Les Hall, MD. We had over 110 alumni, faculty/staff, friends from local hospitals and guests join us to reconnect to the school and one another. Click here to view photo gallery
