The University of South Carolina chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America has been recognized with PRSSA’s prestigious Star Chapter Award for the 2017-18 school year.
The Star Chapter Award, for which all PRSSA chapters in good standing are eligible, encourages chapter leadership to provide programming and relationship building opportunities for students and rewards them for achieving these goals. This award is becoming the gold standard for chapters trying to achieve excellence.
The USC team, led by faculty adviser Kelly Davis, completed several requirements, including offering programs on ethics and diversity, conducting a high school outreach program to encourage high school students to study public relations, and building a strong relationship with its parent/professional chapter.
This marks the second year in a row that USC has received a Star Chapter Award.
“I am thrilled that our school’s PRSSA chapter has again won the prestigious Star Chapter Award,” said Andrea Tanner, director of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. “The school strives to develop future leaders in journalism and mass communications who understand the importance of giving back to the community. This award highlights our public relations students’ knowledge and expertise in communication, ethics and diversity and outreach.”
