South Carolina has so many organizations that are doing awesome work that makes our communities better. We regret we are not able to help all the 14 applicants this year.
About 100 of USC’s best students will be gearing up to help these seven nonprofits this year at the CreateAthon@USC marathon event Nov. 8 and 9.
Irene Wortham Center
Asheville, N.C.: Organization that works to empower children and adults with developmental or socioeconomic challenges to lead healthy, happy and more independent lives.
Walt’s Waltz
Greenville: Walt’s Waltz works to end stigma, reduce suffering and empower those with mental health conditions with hope to save lives. Our vision is mental health and physical health are viewed through the same lens of compassion and fair mindedness.
Richland County Public Education Partners
Columbia: The organization’s mission is to strengthen the public education system through impactful programming that engages parents, empowers educators, fosters community involvement and enriches student experiences. They believe that every child deserves access to a quality public education.
Release Over 20
North Charleston: Influence anglers to follow personal catch and creel limits more restrictive than the law allows, by using rewards, positive reinforcement, and facts backed by scientific research. The goal is to create an improved and sustainable abundance of fish for future generations to catch.
Third Serve Foundation
Charleston: The foundation aims to introduce tennis to children in the Charleston area while fostering an environment that facilitates growth on and off the court. We provide high-quality, no-cost extracurricular tennis and education to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade year-round.

Columbia: The Boyd Innovation Center is a place where forward-thinking individuals can come together to develop groundbreaking ideas that change the world. Our mission is to inspire and support high growth / high tech founders along their entire entrepreneurial journey and create an inclusive culture of entrepreneurship in the Columbia metro region at the Boyd Innovation Center.
The Free Medical Clinic, Inc.
Columbia: The organization strives to provide quality health care, at no cost, to residents of the community who cannot pay for such services and who have no health insurance.
