Responsibilities

As an undergraduate academic advisor, Sam Young guides and coaches students through their academic and extracurricular experience while at the CIC. Young works with students to support their navigation of course selection, high-impact experiences, and university resources. Specifically, he works with students to understand their "why" through self-discovery and exploration. Ultimately, students should leave an appointment with a strong understanding of their next steps and the opportunities available to them at USC.

Background

Young brings over five years of experience championing the student experience by creating systems that build a student's own capacity. Previously, he has worked in roles focused in student leadership development and programming. He has taught multiple student success courses supporting first-year students through their acclimation to university settings.

Personal

Young is an avid reader, swimmer and podcast-listener. He can generally be found in a body of water, catching up on the latest HBO series with his husband or playing with his cat, Hildi. He enjoys exploring new cities and restaurants, so send any recommendations his way!
