Responsibilities
Dora Stryffeler is the undergraduate recruiter in the College of Information and Communications. She meets with prospective students and families for tours, admissions events and in their local communities. She also develops new workshops and events so students can see how their major or minor can be utilized after graduation. Additionally, Stryffeler also manages the Student Ambassadors.
Background
Previously, Stryffeler advised students in the College of Information and Communications.
She began working in higher education in 2014 within leader development at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Previously, she has worked primarily with first-year students at Clemson University and as an undergraduate academic advisor at USC.
Awards
Stryffeler recently received an award for Commitment to Advising Excellence from the University Advising Center. The award “recognizes a faculty or staff academic advisor who has positively contributed to the success of their students, department/college, and the institution. Award winners will have demonstrated a commitment to advising excellence through their advising practice and participation in professional development.”
Personal
When she's not recruiting students to join the college, Stryffeler enjoys spending
time with her two dogs and her husband. She also enjoys traveling — having studied
abroad in Finland and South Africa. Her favorite destinations in the U.S. are Boston
and Disneyworld. When she's not on an adventure, Stryffeler loves to cook and bake
new recipes.
