Background

Jason Porter is an award-winning animator and designer with extensive experience working with some of the world’s most recognized brands, including Marvel, Volkswagen, Target, Taco Bell and Disney. With a career that spans from leading creative teams to producing high-impact visual content, Porter brings a wealth of industry knowledge to the Visual Communications sequence. He is also a voting member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, contributing his expertise to the broader media and entertainment industry.

Research

Porter’s research explores the narrative capabilities of interactive and immersive technology, with a particular focus on how these technologies can be used to enhance storytelling in various contexts. His work includes developing innovative projects in children’s literature, museum experiences, and historic site interpretation, using tools such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and AI to create engaging and educational experiences that push the boundaries of traditional media.

Teaching

Porter is committed to a holistic, student-centered approach to teaching, where the focus is on both technical proficiency and personal growth.
