Employees are at the center of the university’s success, and in the rush of our daily lives, we sometimes forget to recognize a colleague or peer. Cocky Cards are a quick and simple way to express your appreciation, thanks, congratulations or recognize their birthday with a simple electronic note.
Select one of five Cocky Cards to send to your colleagues. Click on the Cocky Card, and if prompted, log in with your email credentials. Fill out the required fields on the form, complete your message and send the card. The card will go directly to your colleague’s email address.

Colleges and departments are encouraged to create recognition programs in order to recognize individuals or teams of employees.
Programs must be approved by the Vice President for Human Resources prior to implementation. For more information about rules and regulations, including the funding available for these programs, refer to the HR policy on employee recognition [pdf].
There are established national and international awards that recognize faculty for research, scholarship and creative activity. From the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellows to Fulbright Scholars, Guggenheim Fellows and National Science Foundation Career Awards. For more details about these and other award opportunities, please visit the Office of the Provost site.
In an effort to attract, retain and motivate employees, the university supports competitive and equitable pay through compensation programs. The amount of compensation awarded is based on duties and responsibilities, employee backgrounds and work experience, performance and available resources. Refer to the salary action guidelines for more information.
Faculty, staff and administrators who are celebrating 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 years of cumulative state service are eligible for the State Service Award. Because this award represents cumulative service to the state, an employee is still eligible if he or she left state employment and is later re-employed by the same agency or another state agency. FTE service is recognized without regard to research grant and time-limited status.
Employees reaching these decade milestones will be awarded a service pin and certificate, denoting the years of service. At 10 years, your pin and certificate will be sent to your department to be presented at the department level. When you've achieved 20 years or greater, there is a formal ceremony to which you will be invited.
For more information about the State Service Award Program, please read the State Service Award Program policy [pdf].
