Frequently Asked Questions
New hires and rehires greater than 1 year are the only types of hires that require pre-hire task assignment.
It is critical for them to complete the tasks in order to have their USC credentials established. If new hires and rehires greater than 1 year do not complete the pre-hire tasks, their hire cannot feed into HCM which delays their system access and can potentially delay their first paycheck.
No, they should not have pre-hire tasks assigned in PeopleAdmin.
- If the new hire or rehire greater than 1 year is a U.S. citizen (either faculty or staff), the pre-hire tasks are assigned by the College/Division HR Contact.
- If the new hire or rehire greater than 1 year is an international (either faculty or staff), the pre-hire tasks are assigned by the Office of International Services.
Any applicant who answers ‘"I am not a U.S. Citizen" on their application should have pre-hire tasks assigned by the Office of International Services, even if they say they do not need sponsorship.
You can find citizenship information on both the application and hiring proposal in PeopleAdmin.
Pre-hire tasks are assigned by the Office of International Services (OIS) to ensure their approval feeds into HCM with accurate data. If OIS approval information is incomplete, the hire eForm will “error” in HCM and delay new employee access to HCM and other downstream systems. OIS is the only one who should be assigning the “International Staff Pre-Hire Tasks” or the “International Faculty Pre-Hire Tasks” in PeopleAdmin.
