Internships

MLIS General Track Internships

MLIS general track students are encouraged to complete an internship before graduation, though an internship is not required for graduation. Internships are a great way to explore the type of work you want to do and the type of organization where you want to work, all while gaining valuable experience. Internships also help you stand out in the job market!

How to Find an Internship

There are many ways to find an internship in libraries. Faculty share internship opportunities regularly through the listserv, Thomas Cooper Library regularly wants internship students, and we have a lot of alumni ready to support students through internship opportunities. Check the listserv for current opportunities and reach out to your advisor.  Students are also encouraged to reach out to their local libraries and other relevant organizations to inquire about internship opportunities.
