In accordance with the College of Information and Communications values

  • Devotion to a high ethical standard.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Respect for universal access and freedom of speech.
  • Belief in a mission of service that engages and empowers communities.
  • Embrace of an innovative approach to all we do.

We strive to create an innovative and agile curriculum that meets the core and changing needs of our students, their future employers, and the professions we serve.

To reflect the above values, we develop courses and programs that are:

  • High quality.
  • Built for scale.
  • Aligned with school, college, and university strategies.
  • Designed to reduce barriers for entry.
  • Inclusive and accessible.
  • Current.
  • Aligned with high-growth areas.
  • Designed to utilize existing resources.

Risk is acceptable and innovation encouraged with the expectation that curricular recommendations are based on data.

Procedure

Programs and courses can be suggested by faculty members, sequences, committees, directors, or administrators. Any proposals must go through procedures outlined in School curriculum committee policies and approved by the Dean’s office. Early discussion with directors and deans allows early buy-in and allows the Dean’s office to provide administrative support and guidance.

Suggested programs may include both existing and new courses. Any proposal for a suggested program must address course enrollment, the need for changed or additional sections and/or modalities of existing courses, and/or faculty staffing needs for any increased or new enrollment. If existing courses are included in a suggested program, the individual(s) suggesting the program must consult with faculty currently teaching any affected courses before submitting the suggested program for consideration.
