We recognize that generosity comes in many forms and sizes. Select one of our featured college priorities or specify another fund of your choice. Here are a few ideas for you to consider:
Annual gifts strengthen the College of Pharmacy by providing resources not covered by tuition or state funding. You can make annual gifts once a year, quarterly or even monthly.
All of our pharmacy graduates have been touched in some way by annual gifts from alumni and friends. Your contribution can make an immediate impact by providing a pharmacy student with a scholarship, or it can have a long-term effect by developing an innovative program or purchasing important equipment and technology. Many employers even offer matching gift benefits. Take advantage of this terrific opportunity to increase the impact of your giving. Contact your employer’s benefits office to learn more.
Did you know there are ways to support the University of South Carolina or one of its affiliated foundations that don't affect your current lifestyle or your family's financial security? Planned gifts enable you to help secure a prosperous future for the College of Pharmacy while being recognized now via membership in the USC Guardian Society. Call us at 803-777-5426 or email Terry Dixon.
Bequest
A bequest is a gift made through your will or revocable trust. Bequests are tax deductible for estate tax purposes and can often times significantly reduce your total estate taxes.
Life Income Gift
A life income gift is a gift that names the University of South Carolina or one of its affiliated foundations as a remainder beneficiary, such as a charitable remainder trust or a charitable gift annuity; a charitable lead trust that provides income to the University of South Carolina or one of its affiliated foundations for your lifetime or a term of years.
Retirement Plan Asset
You may gift or assign qualified retirement plan assets, such as an IRA, 401(k) or
403(b), to the College of Pharmacy.
Life Insurance
If you have a whole or universal life insurance policy that your heirs will not use,
you now have an opportunity to donate your policy.
Non-cash gifts may provide you with important tax benefits and offer ways to support the College Pharmacy without impacting your cash flow. Call us at 803-777-5426 or email Terry Dixon.
Non-Cash gifts may include:
- Stocks
- Real Estate
- Art
- Gifts-in-Kind such as equipment, software or professional services.
Endowment gifts may be created with cash gifts of $25,000 or more and may be used to establish named funds such as scholarships, fellowships, professorships and chairs. The principle side of an endowed fund is held in perpetuity while the annual payout is used according to your designation. Endowed gifts are often used to create a namesake legacy of a donor, family member or friend. Endowed gifts may be pledged and paid over several years, making it easier to leave a lasting legacy for the College of Pharmacy. Call us at 803-777-5426 or email Terry Dixon.
Sponsorships support curricular and extra-curricular activities and events for both students and alumni. Sponsorships are open to both individuals and businesses. Opportunities exist at levels ranging from $500 to $50,000. Call us at 803-777-5426 or email Terry Dixon.
Gifts to the Pharmacy White Coat Fund can be made throughout the year and are used to purchase white coats for our first-year pharmacy students. A gift of $45 purchases one white coat for a future Gamecock pharmacist. White coat donors are recognized in the program for the White Coat Ceremony, held in August.
Gifts can be made online at donate.sc.edu/pharmacywhitecoat.
