2020 - Peromyscus users were invited to take an anonymous survey to help us improve operation of the Peromyscus Genetic Stock Center. The survey will remained open until October 17, 2020. We greatly appreciate your participation and feedback.

2020 - Two recent pre-print studies show that P. maniculatus is susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection. Besides their value as potential model for COVID-19, these studies have obvious implications on the potential role of deer mice as a natural reservoir for this virus:

2020 - Registration for the second Peromyscus Symposium of North America is now open. Interested individuals can express their intention to participate and help the organizers plan. Accommodation information and payment details are provided on the symposium page.

Participation Fee: $100 if registered by April 18 / $150 after April 18

November 26, 2019 - Another important paper was published on the mitochondrion genome of P. leucopus by the same team who recently published the P. leucopus genome - led by Anthony D. Long and Alan G. Barbour:  

Genomes, expression profiles, and diversity of mitochondria of the White-footed Deermouse Peromyscus leucopus, reservoir of Lyme disease and other zoonoses

2019 - Professors Anthony Long and Alan Barbour from the University of California at Irvine will be organizing a Peromyscus Symposium in Orange County, CA.

The provisional dates have been set for June 17-20, 2020. This will be the 2nd Peromyscus Symposium following the first one in Columbia, S.C. in 2018. The PGSC will co-organize this significant event. For planning purposes, please contact the organizers with ideas, suggestions, and your intention to attend - including number of participants from your team.
