Application Process

The University of South Carolina provides an educational experience unlike any other. We invite you to become part of our nearly-200 year legacy of excellence and innovation at the USC College of Pharmacy.

The application for Fall 2025 entry is now open. Apply early!  At the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy, we review applications on a rolling basis, therefore, applicants are encouraged to submit their application as early as possible.

The application cycle begins in July for entry into our Doctor of Pharmacy program in the Fall semester of the following year. Carefully review our Admission Requirements and evaluation criteria in order to put your best foot forward.

We operate on a rolling admission basis that allows for interviews and final action on applicants to be made throughout the admission cycle. There are several required steps in the application process for our program. Become familiar with this timeline to ensure that you complete every step necessary for your application to be considered.

Required Steps in the Application Process

  1. Review our Admission Requirements.

  2. To ensure you receive email notifications from the college, we recommend that you safe-list the following domains in your email settings: @cop.sc.edu, @mailbox.sc.edu

  3. To ensure you receive email notifications from PharmCAS, refer to the Email Troubleshooting section of the PharmCAS Application Instructions.

The Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS) is a centralized application system. The PharmCAS application launches in mid-July each year.

Your PharmCAS application must be submitted no later than the final application deadline. As the USC College of Pharmacy operates on a rolling admission basis, applicants are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible to increase chances of an interview and admission consideration.

Official Transcripts
Official transcripts from every accredited U.S. institutions attended must be submitted directly to PharmCAS from each institution, including high school dual enrollment credit. More information regarding transcripts can be found here.

This checklist can help you gather the right materials as you prepare your application. The application fee is submitted directly to PharmCAS when you submit your application.

PharmCAS will not process an application until the application is complete, the application fee is paid, and ALL official transcripts are received. Processing can take several weeks after all required materials are received by PharmCAS. You can login to PharmCAS and check the status of your application at any time.

Once your PharmCAS Application is complete and verified, it will be provided to the USC College of Pharmacy.

As expected by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, standardized interviews of applicants are conducted as part of the admissions process to assess characteristics including self-awareness, leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, and professionalism.

Interviews are by invitation only and are scheduled August through April. Not all applicants are invited to interview; applicants not selected for an interview will not be considered for admission.

Once the University of South Carolina has received a verified PharmCAS application, the Admissions Committee will review the application and selected applicants will be invited to interview for admission consideration into the Pharm.D. program. An invitation to interview does not guarantee admission or imply any specific action on the part of the Admissions Committee.

The interview day is approximately half-day and consists of an overview of the program by an administrator, two 30-minute one-on-one interviews, and a tour of the college. Applicants will have the opportunity to conduct their interview day in person or virtually, for those unable to make it to campus. The Admissions Committee's decision will be communicated to the applicant within one week following the interview.
