Background
Dr. Golareh Jalilvand is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of South Carolina (UofSC). Prior to joining the UofSC, she received her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Sharif University of Technology and the University of Central Florida (UCF), respectively.
Dr. Jalilvand’s research is focused on materials development and structural design for a broad range of applications, including but not limited to energy storage systems. Her contributions to the field of materials structure-to-property relationships have received recognition in several national and international platforms including the outstanding paper and presentation awards at the Advanced Metallization Conference (AMC), and International Microelectronics Assembly and Packaging Society (IMAPS) meeting. She was also nominated for the 2020 Ph.D. Student Award within the nine departments in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the UCF for her conspicuous contributions to the local and national scientific community.
Since joining UofSC, she has established the advance lithium-based batteries research in the Chemical Engineering department. She is actively collaborating with multiple academic research labs, industry partners, and scientists at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Dr. Jalilvand's works on high performance Sulfur cathode, novel separator materials and structures, as well as new cost-effective synthesis methods for Lithium-transition-metal oxide cathodes have received great attention from nationally and internationally renowned industrial sponsors, aiming to extend her research outcomes to the global battery market.
