Background
Ami Leventis regularly teaches Legal Writing I and Legal Writing II for first-year students. She also teaches Drafting Business Agreements for second- and third-year students.
Prior to joining the faculty, Ms. Leventis practiced as an associate and then as a contract attorney for Gunderson, Dettmer, LLP in Menlo Park, California. She primarily represented emerging growth companies in various industries, including software, hardware, pharmaceuticals, and telecommunications.
In practice, Ms. Leventis negotiated and drafted agreements for intellectual property licensing, joint development, product distribution, and other corporate partnering transactions. She also advised clients on a variety of complex intellectual property matters, including in connection with venture financings, mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, and other strategic investment arrangements. Ms. Leventis also counseled clients regarding general commercial matters, such as product development and employee and contractor relationships.
Ms. Leventis received her B.A. in Environmental Sciences with a minor in French from the University of Virginia in 1995 and later returned to the University of Virginia School of Law, earning her J.D. in 2001. She is a member of the California Bar, admitted in 2001.
