South Carolina Children’s Justice Act Task Force
The Children's Justice Act Task Force formulates and implements recommendations designed to improve the investigation, prosecution, and judicial handling of cases of child abuse and neglect.
The Children’s Law Center provides research assistance and staff support to various committees and task forces across the state. The Center specifically serves as the research and writing staff for the South Carolina Children’s Justice Act Task Force, the South Carolina Citizen Review Panels, the South Carolina Family Court Bench-Bar Committee, and the South Carolina Joint Citizens and Legislative Committee on Children.

The primary purpose of the Citizen Review Panels is to assist state and local child protection systems to be more responsive to community needs and opportunities in providing child protection services through evaluation, public outreach, and advocacy.
The Bench-Bar Committee, initially established in 1994 pursuant to the South Carolina Families for Kids, monitors the legal process of child protection cases and makes recommendations for its improvement.
The Committee on Children was created by statute to research issues regarding the children of South Carolina and to offer policy and legislative recommendations to the Governor and Legislature.
