Background

Angela M. Stallings is an accomplished educator and tax professional with a strong background in accounting and business management. She holds a Master of Science in taxation and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati, where she also earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting. Stallings joined the Department of Retailing at the University of South Carolina's College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management in August 2024 and teaches courses in financial and managerial accounting.

Before her current role, Stallings was the director of accounting degree programs at Midlands Technical College, where she managed course scheduling, faculty assignments and student advising for the accounting programs. She also redesigned several accounting and finance courses to improve their quality and effectiveness. Her experience in academia is complemented by her strong commitment to student success and curriculum development, which has been a hallmark of her career.

Stallings has a wealth of experience in the corporate world, having worked as a senior property tax analyst at Sonoco Products Company and as a sales and use tax audit team senior analyst at General Electric CBSI Inc. In these roles, she managed the property tax lifecycle for large corporations, handled audits and secured significant tax savings through strategic negotiations and process improvements. Her expertise in tax compliance and analysis is well-established, and she has successfully implemented several key projects in her field.

In addition to her professional roles, Stallings is deeply committed to community service and professional engagement. She has served on the board of the South Carolina Association of Accounting Educators and has been a site coordinator for the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Her community involvement includes leadership roles in the McBee Lions Club and participation in various civic organizations, reflecting her dedication to giving back to her community.

Stallings' dedication to both her professional and community roles makes her a well-rounded and impactful educator and tax professional. Her extensive experience, coupled with her commitment to student success and community service, positions her as a leader in her field, continually striving to make a positive difference in the lives of her students and the broader community.
