Background

Professor Huegel’s is currently employed by Westinghouse and his expertise and experience is in fuel design, reactor protection design, and operation and licensing of current and advanced nuclear reactors. He has worked extensively with improving the design of reactor protection systems to provide safety and operational margins, as well as a focus on newer fuel designs using additive manufacturing to create fuel components that greatly improve performance. In addition, he is involved with several different advanced modular reactor design initiatives.
