Education

B.A. in History - Universidad de Valladolid, España
M.A. in Spanish- University of South Carolina

Bio

Born and raised in Valladolid, Spain, she has been teaching at USC since 2001, when she was admitted to the M.A. Program in Spanish as a graduate student.

After earning a B.A. in History at the Universidad de Valladolid, she came to the US in 2000 and spent a year studying at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. She moved to South Carolina in 2001 to attend USC and earned a M.A. in Spanish and Latin American Literature.

Carla is now a Senior Instructor and has taught every Spanish undergraduate grammar course offered by the DLLC at USC. During the last two decades at USC, she has coordinated SPAN 121, SPAN 122, SPAN 309 (now 302) and SPAN 310 (now 303). Her favorite course to teach now is SPAN 360 – Spanish for Healthcare professionals, where her students can learn cultural competency and medical terminology in Spanish.
