Guo Jie

Jie Guo received her PhD in Comparative Literature from the Johns Hopkins University, and is currently Associate Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of South Carolina. Her research interests include the history of sexuality, gender theory, visual culture, the history of Chinese women, and Chinese literature and film. She is the Chinese translator of Judith Butler’s Undoing Gender and Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick’s Between Men: English Literature and Male Homosocial Desire, and these translations were published by Shanghai Sanlian shudian respectively in 2009 and 2011. Her recent courses include: World Literature; What Is Comparative Literature; Great Books of the Eastern World; Modern East Asia Through Film and Literature; Topics in Contemporary Literary Theory – Gender Theory; and Foucault.
