The Office of the Vice President for Research, in collaboration with the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, have selected five racial justice projects for funding in subject areas including education, law and criminal justice.

The Office of the Vice President for Research is seeking nominations for our three signature Breakthrough award programs: Breakthrough Leadership in Research, Breakthrough Stars and Breakthrough Graduate Scholars. All nominations for these programs are due by Friday, October 16, 2020.

New Racial Justice and Equity Research Fund to support grants for UofSC faculty

This new program is sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research in partnership with the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, with funding made available through the ASPIRE Program. Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis from Wednesday, July 15 through Wednesday, September 30, 2020.

Office of Research Awards 2020 ASPIRE Grants to UofSC Faculty

The Office of the Vice President for Research is proud to announce the recipients of our 2020 ASPIRE faculty research grants. Since it began in 2012, ASPIRE has funded promising research and shared research infrastructure, to enhance research and scholarship throughout the UofSC system.

Office of Research to Host Understanding COVID-19 Virtual Town Hall on Tuesday, May 5

The virtual town hall meeting will feature 15-minute presentations by three UofSC health sciences faculty experts and an audience Q&A session. This event is free and open to the public. Access link now available.

Summer 2020 on-campus research programs and events for undergraduate students have been canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Office of the Vice President for Research requests that UofSC faculty with research expertise relevant to the COVID-19 pandemic submit summary information to be published on our website to facilitate research connections and collaborations across the university and throughout the state.

Office of Research Launches Internal Funding to Support COVID-19 Research

Proposals for this special funding initiative must be submitted in USCeRA by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. Faculty from all disciplines and campuses are encouraged to apply.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update on Research Activities at UofSC

In a letter to the University of South Carolina research community, Vice President for Research Prakash Nagarkatti provides guidance for researchers and research administrators on research activities and services while system campuses are closed. UofSC Professor Ron Prinz Lands $11.16 Million Grant to Launch a Research Center on Children's Well-Being

Dr. Prinz and his collaborators received a new grant of $11.16 million from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to establish the interdisciplinary Research Center for Child Well-Being. This prestigious NIH Center of Biomedical Research Excellence involves 17 faculty researchers from five departments across four UofSC colleges and schools.
