The Ann Johnson Institute for Science, Technology and Society	The Ann Johnson Institute provides an institutional home for studies in science, technology and society, and seeks to foster interdisciplinary collaboration across colleges and programs to bring together scientists, humanists and members of the medical profession.
SC Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology	As a university institute, SCIAA initiates and conducts a broad range of field and collections research throughout the state, participates in a wide range of USC activities and duties, and contributes to the University infrastructure and the USC publication series.
Belle W. Baruch Institute for Marine and Coastal Sciences	The Baruch Institute has facilities on the University's main campus in Columbia, SC, a field laboratory located on Hobcaw Barony, near Georgetown, SC, and a Charleston-based research laboratory in partnership with the SC Department of Natural Resources.
Center for Bioethics	The Center for Bioethics serves as a locus for interdisciplinary research, education and service in bioethics and the medical humanities, addressing these areas at local, regional and national levels.
Center for Civil Rights History and Research	The Center for Civil Rights History and Research is a leading collaborative initiative focused on preserving, documenting and promoting the contributions of the state of South Carolina to the broader American Civil Rights Movement
Center for Digital Humanities	The CDH helps members of the USC community transform research and teaching by fostering new models of inquiry involving digital methodologies, pedagogies and media.
Earth Sciences and Resources Institute	Focusing on applied research and service, the ESRI studies water, energy, conservation and more in the classroom, in the field and through leading edge computer modeling.
Electron Microscopy Center	The Electron Microscopy Center is a core facility providing all levels of technical support and consultation in the area of light microscopy, electron microscopy, and elemental analysis.
Center of Excellence for Geographic Education	The mission of the CEGE is to provide South Carolina students and educators with innovative and effective practices, materials, and research to improve geography education.
Center for GIScience and Geospatial Big Data (CeGIS)	CeGIS conducts interdisciplinary research and education on GIScience and Spatial Data Science including GIS, geospatial big data, remote sensing, spatial analysis, statistics, and modeling, geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI), spatial computing, geo-visualization, and cyberGIS, addressing a broad range of geographic questions about hazards, public health, population, environment and climate change.
Hazards and Vulnerability Research Institute	The HVRI is an interdisciplinary research and student training center focused on development of theory, data, metrics, methods, applications and spatial analytical models for understanding the newly emergent field of hazard vulnerability science.
Interdisciplinary Mathematics Institute	The IMI fosters advanced interdisciplinary mathematical research with the potential for meaningful application and to facilitate its transfer to the academic, government and industrial sectors.
McCausland Center for Brain Imaging	The McCausland Center provides USC faculty, as well as collaborative and externally funded researchers, the ability to perform high-resolution brain imaging studies in the Columbia, SC area.
Mechanical Prototype Facility	The Mechanical Prototype Facility provides machining, welding and fabricating service to support research at USC. The MPF will also provide mechanical design assistance and detailing and CAD drawings as needed.
Institute for Mind and Brain	The Institute for Mind and Brain coordinates interdisciplinary research efforts in cognitive neuroscience, identifies and leverages opportunities for collaboration and external funding, presents a cohesive face for research efforts in cognitive neuroscience to the outside world and generally serve as a hub for research and doctoral student training in human cognitive neuroscience at USC.
Parenting and Family Research Center	The PFRC aims to increase our understanding of children, adolescents, and parents in the contexts of family, school, and community, and to draw on scientific evidence to inform public policy on issues affecting children.
Center for Science Education	The primary mission of the Center for Science Education is to provide course and professional development to current and future K-12 science teachers to enhance the quality of science instruction in South Carolina.
Institute for Southern Studies	The Institute for Southern Studies fosters the study of the American South, serves as a link to the rich research resources at USC and provides access to other important research facilities throughout the state.
Statistical Laboratory (Stat Lab)	Summary of Services: The Stat Lab provides free consulting for USC students, faculty, and staff and can assist in all phases of a research project including experimental design, data collection, data description and presentation, analysis, and reporting.
The Walker Institute of International and Area Studies	The Walker Institute promotes student and faculty research, scholarship, and public service programs in international affairs and the comparative cross-cultural study of human societies.

Museum of Education	The Museum of Education serves as a museum with exhibitions, publications and programs portraying the perennial issues of education as a means to generate thoughtful discussion among members of the university community and general public.
Research, Evaluation and Measurement Center	Faculty and staff at the Research, Evaluation and Measurement Center work with teams of research assistants and affiliated University faculty to plan, develop and carry out program evaluation, assessment and research projects. SC Educational Policy Center	SCEPC faculty and staff research policy issues related to prekindergarten through high school and postsecondary education and disseminates that information to educational decision makers at all levels.
Yvonne & Schuyler Moore Child Development Research Center	This center's work includes data collection from primary and secondary sources, cutting-edge applied research, professional development for education practitioners, community-based research, professional development and technical assistance, active collaboration with traditional and nontraditional educational partners, information dissemination and active mentoring of new scholars.
Center for Transition Research and Leadership	The main charge of the Center is to bring a group of scholars, researchers, and/or other professionals together to focus on how to enhance service delivery for youth and young adults with disabilities through research, demonstration, and training.

Artificial Intelligence Institute of South Carolina (AIISC)	Led by renowned Artificial Intelligence (AI) expert Amit Sheth, Ph.D., the AIISC seeks to be a leader in AI and its applications. In addition to several core research areas in AI, the institute supports comprehensive interdisciplinary and translational research in AI across the university and enhances workforce and economic development in the state through education, technology and commercialization.
Center for Electrochemical Engineering	The CEE is dedicated to integrated study of fuel cells, hydrogen storage, batteries, supercapacitors, corrosion, corrosion protection and electrodeposition of metal alloys and composites. It serves as a focal point for development of new power source technologies, novel corrosion protection strategies and environmentally friendly coatings.
Center for Friction Stir Processing	The CFSP is a multi-University Industry/University Cooperative Research Center focused on research and development in the area of friction based materials processing technologies and science.
Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Center	The Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Center works to develop fuel cell technology to speed commercialization of this environmentally friendly energy source.
Center for Grid-connected Advanced Power Electronic Systems	GRAPES research concentrates on design, development, evaluation, control, and standardization of grid-connected power electronic equipment on both the supply and load side of power systems.
Center for Information Assurance Engineering	The mission of the Center is to facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations among information security researchers, system developers, and educators to improve the level of security and trustworthiness in the Nation's cyber infrastructure. CIAE faculty and students are working in a broad spectrum of security topics and issues.
Center for Computational Robotics	The focus of the Center is on research, industrial development, and education in multiagent systems, conceptual modeling, ontological engineering, industrial automation, executive decision support, and software development.
Center for Mechanics, Materials and Non-Destructive Evaluation	Areas of expertise include material characterization at the macro and nano-scale, dynamic and static mechanical testing, structural analysis, state-of-the-art non-contacting strain measurement methods, advanced numerical simulations and fracture mechanics.
HeteroFoaM Center	HeteroFoaMs are Heterogeneous Functional Materials that comprise an energy system. Our team is developing a greater understanding of HeteroFoaMs in order to create systems that generate power without waste by-products.
McNAIR Aerospace Center	The McNAIR  Aerospace Center works to advance South Carolina's knowledge-based economy through innovative aerospace research, interdisciplinary education, economic development, outreach and collaboration with the aerospace and allied industries and related government agencies.

Center on Professionalism	The Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough Center on Professionalism enriches teaching and research on the legal profession and promotes professionalism, civic leadership and public service in the practice of law.

Complementary Alternative Medicine Center	The CAM Center is dedicated to understanding the mechanisms by which various plant-derived products can be used as preventive or therapeutic modalities in the treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
Cardiovascular Translational Research Center	The Cardiovascular Translational Research Center (CTRC) at the University of South Carolina will make significant strides in cardiovascular research. Viral Vector Core	The Viral Vector Core provides service for researchers, both intramural and extramural to USC, interested in utilizing viral-based methods of gene delivery. Center	Research Information
Children's Music Development Center	Music Play classes at the USC's Children's Music Development Center are part of an innovative program designed to develop the music potential of young children from newborns to five-year-olds.
USC Music Library	The Music Library's collection contains books and scores, print and electronic journals, audio and video recordings and special collections. Audio and video recordings can be checked out, and the library provides CD players, DVD players, turn tables and more for in-house listening. Electronic resources include International Index to Music Periodicals, RILM, RIPM, Oxford Music Online (Grove), DRAM and Naxos Music Library, the 24-hour online listening service.
Southeastern Piano Festival	The Southeastern Piano Festival is a high-level training platform for young pianists, a presenter of new and world-renowned concert pianists and master teachers, an advocate for new piano music, and a vehicle for exploring different roles the piano plays on stage and beyond.
Center for Southern African-American Music	CSAM also captures music as it exists today through contemporary field recordings and audio/videotaping. CSAM seeks to be a repository for materials relating to African-American music in the South and through contemporary archiving procedures, will preserve them for perpetuity.

Cancer Survivorship Center	The center is dedicated to alleviating the burden and suffering from cancer. The multidisciplinary faculty have diverse research expertise including prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, palliative care and survivorship. Center for Nursing Leadership	The Center for Nursing Leadership was established in 2004 and serves as a career-long development resource center. The center specializes in programs designed to meet the unique needs of nurse leaders and their organizations. We provide a virtual project development environment for collaborative teams from across the state to advance health for all South Carolina residents.
Center for Simulation and Experiental Learning	Center for Simulation and Experiential Learning allows our nursing students to experience clinical scenarios — ranging from common patient cases to low-frequency, high-risk events — in realistic practice environments and engage in decision-making and interventions that only licensed registered nurses can do in patient-care settings.
Perinatal, Pediatrics, & Family Research Center	The mission of the Perinatal, Pediatrics, & Family Research Center (PPFRC) is to improve health and wellbeing for families in SC and beyond through research and innovation, leadership and excellence through collaborative, interdisciplinary research by the members of the PPFRC.

COBRE Center for Targeted Therapeutics	The COBRE Center for Targeted Therapeutics (CTT) was created to attract and foster the professional development of talented junior scientists who are motivated to make a difference in the treatment of debilitating diseases.
Center for Colon Cancer Research	The CCCR conducts innovative research on colorectal cancer that will lead to improved methods for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of this disease.
Kennedy Pharmacy Innovation Center	The Kennedy Pharmacy Innovation Center engages in research and innovative training in improving healthcare outcomes, sterile pharmaceutical compounding and the business of pharmacy.
Palmetto Poison Center	The Palmetto Poison Center provides information on exposure to poisonous materials for the general public and healthcare professionals.
SmartState Center for Medication Safety	The South Carolina SmartState Center for Medication Safety and Efficacy was created in 2005 to study the effects of prescription and over-the-counter medications, particularly on children and the elderly. The center is also focused on educational and outreach to health care professionals through the Doris Levkoff Meddin Medication Safety Education Program.
SmartState Center for Translational Cancer Therapeutics	The Translational Cancer Therapeutics Program goal is the discovery of new drug targets and development of novel drugs and approaches for the treatment of cancer.

Big Data Health Science Center	A University of South Carolina Excellence Initiative, the UofSC Big Data Health Science Center (BDHSC) serves as a campus-wide interdisciplinary enterprise that conducts cutting-edge research and discovery, offers professional development and academic training, and provides service to the community and industry.
Cancer Prevention and Control Program	Research at the CPCP addresses genetic, lifestyle-related, and environmental causes of cancer; screening for early detection and primary prevention of certain cancers; access to care; cancer survivorship.
Carolina Consortium on Health, Inequalities and Populations (CHIP)	The Carolina Consortium on Health, Inequalities, and Populations (CHIP) brings together a collaborative group of interdisciplinary scholars conducting innovative research aimed at understanding and addressing the social processes that influence population dynamics and health inequalities.
Children's Physical Activity Research Group	CPARG is an interdisciplinary team of faculty, staff, and graduate students who are dedicated to expanding the body of knowledge on physical activity and its promotion in children and adolescents.
Clinical Exercise Research Center (CERC)	CERC is equipped for state-of-the-art measurement of metabolic and cardiorespiratory responses and adaptations to exercise in human subjects. A fully automated system for measurement of metabolism is included. This facility is also equipped with the state-of-the-art DEXA machine for body composition and bone mineral analysis. We have full phlebotomy capability and provides assay analyses. This facility provides an important resource for conducting undergraduate and graduate student research projects.
Community Health Worker Institute (CHWI)	The recently funded Community Health Worker Institute (CHWI) will provide CHW training and curriculum development; recruitment and job placement; technical assistance for health systems towards CHW integration, evaluation and payment model design; and return on investment studies.
Consortium for Latino Immigration Studies	The Consortium for Latino Immigration Studies promotes and coordinates multi-disciplinary research related to Latinos in South Carolina and the Southeast.
Center for Environmental Nanoscience and Risk	The Center for Environmental Nanoscience and Risk has greater than 3000 square feet of high quality research space within the Arnold School of Public Health. There are facilities for nanomaterial production, clean-up, characterization, fate and behaviour and ecotoxicology.
Center for Health Services and Policy Research	The Center exists to coordinate and conduct research designed to promote accessibility of health care services and to inform public policy in a manner that has a positive impact on the health-related quality of life of South Carolinians.
Center for Research in Nutrition and Health Disparities	Researchers at the Center for Research in Nutrition and Health Disparities work to understand how nutritional components interact with a variety of contexts, including political, physical, economic, and social structures.
Center for the Study of Aphasia Recovery (C-STAR)	C-STAR aims to improve aphasia treatment effectiveness as well as identify patient factors that can be used to improve diagnosis of language impairment, guide aphasia treatment and predict prognosis. C-STAR houses researchers who examine the effects of behavioral treatment, brain stimulation and residual brain function (brain plasticity) on recovery from aphasia.
Core for Applied Research and Evaluation (CARE)	CARE is focused on evaluation and public service designed to improve the practices of the health care delivery system and the health policies of South Carolina and beyond. CARE specializes in developing and conducting surveys, focus groups, and interviews; evaluating the implementation of evidence-based programs in real world settings; quality improvement services, including process maps; group facilitation, especially planning processes; and engaging communities in all phases of research.
Disability Research and Dissemination Center	The DRDC conducts research related to the priorities of the CDC's National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities through research grant sub-awards to university and other academic and professional partners that utilize medical, social and basic science, and public health approaches.
Institute for Partnerships to Eliminate Health Disparities	The Institute was created to enhance and facilitate the University of South Carolina's public and provide partnerships focused on improving the health status of communities statewide and worldwide.
The Montgomery Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic (formerly the Speech and Hearing Center)	Committed to excellence in service, teaching and research, the Speech and Hearing Center serves to fulfill its mission to meet the needs of a diverse community with regards to the nature, prevention, diagnosis, and to treatment of disorders of communication.
Non-Communicable Disease Policy and Communications Research (NCDPCR)	NCDPCR research focuses on how media and policies influence perceptions and behaviors related to non-communicable diseases (NCDs). We focus primarily on media and policy interventions because of their broad reach and potential to significantly influence tobacco use and unhealthy eating, behaviors that account for much of the preventable NCD burden around the world.
Oceans and Human Health Center on Climate Change Interactions (OHHC2I)	The goal of OHHC2I is to enhance our knowledge of the roles climate change may play in affecting Vibrio bacterial infections and production of toxins from freshwater cyanobacteria, both of which may adversely affect human health.
Office for the Study of Aging	The primary research goal of the Office for the Study of Aging is to achieve and maintain research excellence in creating and disseminating knowledge about aging persons and populations. We particularly focus on research that identifies and promotes aging solutions.
PASOs Programs	PASOs provides education on family health and positive parenting skills; individual guidance for participants in need of resources; and partnership with health care and social service providers to help them provide more effective services.
Prevention Research Center	The PRC's research goals include understanding how a variety of policy factors relate to physical activity in communities, evaluating the influences of changes in environmental policies and features on physical activity behaviors, promoting physical activity and affecting social, environmental and political influences on reducing racial and ethnic disparities in physical activity.
Research Center for Child Well-Being (RCCWB)	RCCWB is an NIGMS/NIH Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) focused on prevention research impacting the well-being of children ages 2 to 10, with the dual goal of (1) reducing risk for social, emotional, and behavioral problems, and (2) decreasing unhealthy lifestyle behaviors. As a joint venture by the Arnold School and the College of Arts and Sciences, the RCCWB seeks to accelerate the scientific trajectories of promising early-career faculty.
SC Cancer Disparities Community Network	The SCCDCN works to reduce, and ultimately eliminate, cancer health disparities using a community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach to design and conduct research projects in AA communities in South Carolina.
SC Institute of Medicine and Public Health	IMPH is an independent entity serving as a neutral convener around the important health issues in our state. IMPH also serves as a resource for evidence-based information to inform health policy decisions.
SC Public Health Consortium	As a vital component of the Arnold School of Public Health, OPHP exists to foster the development of public health practice through dynamic, experiential learning situations; relevant and accessible educational programs; and applied, practice-based research.
SC Rural Health Research Center	The South Carolina Rural Health Research Center focuses on investigating persistent inequities in health status within the population of the rural US, with an emphasis on inequities stemming from socioeconomic status, race and ethnicity, and access to healthcare services.
Technology Center to Promote Healthy Lifestyles (TecHealth)	TecHealth is a SmartState™ Center comprised of an interdisciplinary team of research scientists and students. We are dedicated to creating and utilizing innovative technology to encourage healthy lifestyle behaviors, which can solve some of the most pressing chronic health problems facing the citizens of South Carolina.

Center for Child and Family Studies	Societal problems are so complicated that traditional research too often only minimally affects policy and practice. With Community-Derived Research and Practice, the research questions and program concerns come directly from our community partners.
Institute for Families in Society	The mission of the Institute is to use university-community interdisciplinary research and practice as a platform to advance the science of helping families and vulnerable populations.
I. DeQuincey Newman Institute for Peace and Social Justice	The Newman Institute pursues high quality theoretical and applied research on processes and conditions that create and sustain social justice.
SmartHOME	The University of South Carolina’s SmartHOME Center is helping older adults remain healthy and independent by developing technologies that will enable them to remain at home with adequate support. This innovative center is one of the many SmartState centers at Carolina, designed to advance the quality of life for South Carolinians and the economy of our state.
South Carolina Center for Gerontology	The South Carolina Center for Gerontology is a consortium of higher education faculty, researchers, legislators, agency staff, practitioners and service providers, for the purpose of enhancing the quality of life of older South Carolinians.
