Finding an On-Campus Job

The University of South Carolina employs thousands of student employees in a wide variety of on-campus jobs each year.

Each college, division, or department on campus has its own way of advertising available jobs for students; however, Handshake is the main platform for on-campus sudent employment. Below, you will find information on how and where to find available student employee job opportunities at USC.  To prepare to job search and be a competitive applicant, please visit the Career Center to have your documents reviewed and talk to a Career Coach.


Eligibility Requirements

Before you start searching for a student job or working as a student employee, review the following criteria to ensure that you meet eligibility requirements.

Students must be at least 16 years old, enrolled at USC
(full-time or part-time), and pursuing a degree.1

Eligible if enrolled for summer, registered in spring and continuing in fall, or accepted for fall (eligible from June 1).

Work Study

Federal Work-Study: A financial aid program to help pay for college expenses (not applied directly to your tuition bill). Jobs are available on-campus or in community service agencies. Work Study funds can be applied to most student employee positions on campus; however, you can also search for a work-study eligible only role through Handshake. Graduate Assistantships

Roles: Teaching, research, resident advisors, athletics, or administrative tasks. Opportunities may be available at admission or for current students. Visit the Graduate School for more information on graduate assistantships.
