Academic Advising

Academic Probation and Suspension

All students must maintain a cumulative University of South Carolina GPA of at least 2.00 to remain in good academic standing. Many academic majors have higher GPA requirements to continue in their degree programs. You should become familiar with the academic requirements necessary to progress within your major.

Required Academic Coaching Appointment

If you are on Academic Probation, please complete the following steps: 

  1. Schedule an Academic Coaching appointment according to the instructions in the email from the University Advising Center from the week of December 16, 2024.
  2. Fill out your Academic Coaching Profile. Please complete this prior to your appointment.
  3. Attend your coaching appointment. Your Coach will review your Coaching Profile prior to your appointment. 

Academic Probation

When a student's cumulative University of South Carolina GPA at the end of any semester is less than a 2.00, they are placed on academic probation.

Academic Suspension

Undergraduate students unable to meet the university's academic standards are suspended from the University of South Carolina.
