Background
Associate Professor Bongki Woo joined the faculty of the College of Social Work in 2018.
Woo’s research focuses on the health and mental health consequences of inequality in society, with a specific interest in the experiences of racial, ethnic and immigrant minority populations. His primary research seeks to understand the specific conditions under which social sources of stress, such as racial discrimination, helps explain the link between race/ethnicity and mental health. He also has published on the topics of anti-racism, anti-racist civic action, stress and stress reactions, and neighborhood environments. His articles have been published in scholarly journals such as Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, and Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities.
Woo received his Ph.D. from the Boston College School of Social Work in May 2018 and previously earned his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
