What to Expect
We design field practicum education to prepare you for the challenges and rewards of effective social work practice. As a student practitioner, you will integrate the knowledge, skills and values you have learned in the classroom and apply them to real-world social work situations. You will earn course credit for field practicum education which is scheduled concurrently with other classes.
Requirements
Field practicum education is structured in accordance with the Council on Social Work Education and our field practicum instructors adhere to the National Association of Social Work Code of Ethics. To be eligible for graduation, the following field practicum education hours are required:
Over the course of two integrative seminar classes (SOWK 781 and SOWK 782), students will benefit from approximately 400 hours of mentorship by a MSW credentialed Field practicum instructor.
Over the course of two practicum courses (SOWK 783 and SOWK 784), students will benefit from approximately 500 hours of mentorship by a MSW credentialed field practicum instructor.
