South Carolina Hub of Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center

We assist South Carolina communities seeking federal funds to address environmental challenges and infrastructure needs. We are part of the Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Centers, a national program of the US Environmental Protection Agency in partnership with the US Department of Energy. South Carolina's hub is part of Region 4, which covers most of the Southeast.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) provide historic levels of federal funding to local communities to improve infrastructure and to address environmental challenges. But applying for federal funding can be daunting. The South Carolina Hub of Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center assists communities in navigating the federal grant process. We assist communities that are eligible for federal funding, including community-based organizations and local governments, with planning, applications, and post-award grant reporting. Because community is a  core part of the Hub's mission, we have a special interest in supporting vulnerable communities and historically underserved communities.

Ideas for Funding

Federal grants are increasingly available directly to local communities, including municipalities and community-based organization. Federal grants support a wide range of activities including planning across multiple sectors: transportation, energy, disaster response, environmental protection. At any given time, there are a wide variety of grants available across multiple federal agencies. This information is generally available at grants.gov and on the individual federal agency websites.
