CARE is the result of decades of experience in the field of public health, with the resources of a major university behind it. We are uniquely positioned to be of service to our partners.
From helping new and emerging initiatives get on their feet to improving the quality of services in statewide government agencies, CARE has been a part of a multitude of public health success stories in the state of South Carolina.
We aim to create a culture of data-driven action within CARE, our partners, and our
larger community.
Our Process
CARE offers our collaborators a dynamic experience, by providing a myriad of insights, strategies and tools, which allow our partners to create positive change.
A hallmark of our services is the easy- to-digest presentation of results. Through
data visualization and straightforward communication, CARE provides collaborators

USC’s FIRST program, Faculty Initiative for Improved Recruitment, Retention and Experience, is designed to recruit diverse early-stage faculty who are committed to inclusive excellence and whose work focuses on health disparities and equity. The program will support these individuals through mentorship, training, and professional development activities tailored to meet their needs while also addressing institutional-level systems and barriers to ensure their success and well-being. Evaluation of the CDC State Actions to Improve Oral Health Outcomes, SC Department of Health and Environmental Control Division of Oral Health (DOH)
The vision of DOH at DHEC is that every SC citizen is able to enjoy optimal oral health as part of total health and well-being. Through funding from the CDC State Actions to Improve Oral Health Outcomes grant, SC DHEC's DOH has partnered with CARE since 2018 to evaluate their progress of their vision. CARE’s primary role is to monitor progress towards program goals, document strategy implementation to identify opportunities for quality improvement, and ensure effective approaches are utilized to prevent resources from being wasted on ineffective approaches. Our expertise in qualitative methods, involving staff and partner organizations, has helped provide deeper levels of understanding of the facilitators and barriers that affect oral health outcomes. As a result of the partnership with DHEC and CARE, SC is viewed as a national leader in using evidence-based practices to address OH at a statewide level.
