Background
Edwyna Hill is an assistant professor in the Department of Management at the Darla Moore School of Business. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. Her research focuses on mood and emotions, justice, and leadership in organizations. Prior to earning her Ph.D., she worked in healthcare administration.
Analytics for the Human Resources Professional (MGMT 425) and Employee and Leadership Development (MGMT 772).
In my courses, students will have the opportunity to develop critical skills that are valuable to organizations, including HR analytics and leader development.
My research focuses on the unique influence of affective experiences on the leadership process. In this work, I explore the role of affect in shaping employees’ perceptions of their leaders and how affect impacts relational dynamics between leaders and employees. My research also investigates how employees (and other observers) react to certain leader behaviors.
Through my research, I aim to help managers and organizations better understand the factors that impact workplace relationships and provide insight into how they can help make those relationships more effective and rewarding.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to explore interesting topics that not only appeal to me, but also have the potential to influence organizations. I consider this a profound privilege and it is a key motivating factor for me. I am also inspired by the opportunity to work with students from diverse backgrounds and help them prepare to lead organizations.
