Status Offense Project: Effective Responses to Status Offense Cases & Ending the Practice
of Incarcerating Children for Status Offenses in South Carolina
The goal of this project is to keep South Carolina's runaway, truant, and incorrigible
youth out of secure confinement, and instead, address their needs while in their home
communities. The Children’s Law Center is leading both state and local efforts to
increase collaboration among family court officials, law enforcement, state agencies,
private providers, and faith-based organizations, while supporting their efforts to
improve outcomes for these youth and their families.
