The Honors College application serves as your application for University-wide scholarships. Visit USC's Office of Undergraduate Admissions for more information about scholarships for South Carolina state residents and non-residents, as well as for other scholarship resources.
Top Scholars
The Stamps, Carolina, McNair, 1801 and Horseshoe Scholarships are awarded by the University and are the most prestigious awards for incoming first-year students. Collectively known as Top Scholars, these scholarships provide automatic admission to the Honors College and a comprehensive program administered by National Fellowships and Scholar Programs. They substantially defray the costs of tuition, room, board and fees and often include additional benefits such as a laptop computer and assistance with on-campus parking. Visit the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for more information on these scholarships.
South Carolina Residents
In addition to Top Scholars awards, the University offers several other merit based scholarships to South Carolina students. Other options that can be added to a merit based scholarship include Provost Scholars Award, Presidential Scholars Award and USC STEM Supplement.
Out of State Residents
Non-South Carolina residents are also automatically considered to be a Top Scholar as well as for other merit based scholarships. The Provost Scholars Award can also be added to merit based scholarships for qualifying students.
Additional Opportunities
There are many general opportunities available, such as FASFA, grants funded through both federal and state governments as well as the University, a variety of loan options, scholarships and student employment. The University also offers the Gamecock Guarantee to first-time, full-time first-year students who are South Carolina residents from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
