Cochlear Implant Program

The USC Cochlear Implant Program at the Montgomery Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic aims to enhance the lives of adults and children with significant hearing loss through a combination of hearing services, technology, education, research, and rehabilitation.  Cochlear implants are the most effective neural prostheses, currently benefiting one million users worldwide. The USC Cochlear Implant Program provides extensive audiologic and rehabilitation services and collaborates closely with surgeons, patients' families, and community professionals to provide the highest quality, cutting-edge care to all individuals with cochlear implants and ensure successful outcomes. Outcomes for patients include improved communication abilities, greater independence, and better integration into the hearing world. The program is the only program of its kind in the Midlands and one of only two joint cochlear implant/auditory-verbal programs in the state. Since 1999, the team has provided services for over 750 cochlear implant patients of all ages, including adults with progressive hearing loss. The program offers a range of hearing and speech clinical services tailored to the individual needs of patients with cochlear implants.
