Department of Biological Sciences
Plant Biology
The Plant Biology labs have a diverse set of interests aimed at understanding plant development, plant responses to the environment, and the functioning of plants within ecosystems. Our research areas include vegetative and reproductive development, epigenetics, functional genomics, pathogenesis and immunity, herbivory, stress responses, the microbiome, evolution, wetland ecology, biogeography and plant taxonomy. We provide excellent training opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students with our controlled environmental growth facilities, the A.C. Moore Herbarium, the W. Gordon Belser Arboretum, research and travel fellowships, and a highly collaborative and interactive group.
