Virtual Field Experiences

Bringing the field to you – wherever you are!

Environmental educators and scientists from three university field stations – at Baruch Marine Field Laboratory, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and University of Georgia Marine Institute on Sapelo Island – joined together to develop a series of learning modules to support coastal and estuarine science education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The learning modules include educational resources and field methods-based videos, bringing the field to students and learners at home. Now, these modules most often function as pre- and post-field experience tools to support the many field trips we host. More broadly, these modules and their components may be used by the broader education community to advance student understanding of our unique coastal systems in the southeast USA.

This project was funded by the National Science Foundation (award #2037372).
