Student Affairs and Academic Support

Our Services

The Office of Student Advocacy helps students resolve university-related problems and concerns in an informal way. Students should seek help from the office when they:

  • Need help certifying an excused absence
  • Don’t know where to go or whom to ask about an issue
  • Are unsure about how to navigate university policy or procedure

What We Do

  • Listen impartially, discuss options and answer questions
  • Refer students to appropriate offices or resources
  • Explain university policy and procedure
  • Empower students to find their own solutions to problems and concerns
  • Notify faculty members of a student’s absence due to a medical or personal issue in accordance with the Undergraduate Attendance Policy
  • Recommend changes and improvements to university policies and procedures that are outdated, unclear or ineffective

What We Don't

  • Provide legal advice
  • Hear formal complaints
  • Share information with others without the student’s permission
  • Keep confidential any risk of danger to students or others
  • Facilitate grade changes or medical/hardship withdrawal
  • Change the modality of a course

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
