About the Center
Initially funded in 2024 through a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant, we recruited and trained 14 individuals with SUD experience to serve as patient experts. These individuals now work alongside researchers to improve health research focused on this community.
Today, the substance use disorder panel serves as an ongoing resource for investigators seeking meaningful collaboration with this patient population. Whether shaping research priorities, refining study designs, or co-developing solutions, this panel ensures that these individuals are not just included, but are empowered as co-creators in the research process.
