Facilities Management & Support Services – Assistant Director
Jon has been with the School of Medicine for 13 years and has served in several rolls
in the Facilities Management Department: courier, electrician, modifications manager,
and now assistant director. Outside of work, he enjoys time with family and helping
his children exceed in athletics and the classroom.
Clinical Sciences – Manager, SOM Employee Health Program
Jennifer currently serves as the School of Medicine student health nurse. She had
been in this position for three years. She reviews all incoming medical students’
immunizations and titers. She completes all required immunization forms for students
to begin their residencies and she conducts yearly trainings for students and participates
with orientation. She has lived in South Carolina for six years and has two teenage
boys.
Pharmacology, Physiology, and Neuroscience – Research Specialist II
Human Resources – Assistant Director
Justin currently serves as the Assistant Director for Human Resources at the School
of Medicine Columbia and has been affiliated with the School of Medicine and the Prisma
Health-USC Medical Group since 2016. In his spare time, Justin enjoys visiting antique
stores/estate sales and spending time with his two dogs: Belle & Buttons.
Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology – Assistant to Department Chair
Nicole has worked at School of Medicine Columbia since 2013, originally starting in
the department of facilities. Since 2014, she has been working in Pathology, Microbiology,
and Immunology (PMI) as the administrative assistant to PMI Department Chair, Dr.
Mitzi Nagarkatti. She enjoys cooking, sewing, riding motorcycles with her husband,
TJ Maxx, Home Goods, and being a grandma ~ best job in the world!
Cardiovascular Translational Research Center – Director of Operations
Andrenette currently serves as the Director of Operations for the Cardiovascular Translational
Research Center (CTRC). She has worked for CTRC for one year and for the university
for seven years in various positions. The Center is the result of the University of
South Carolina Excellence Initiative and was established to promote integrated research
into the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiovascular disease. She joined
the CTRC team because it was an amazing opportunity. Andrenette enjoys spending her
free time volunteering and working with youth.
Undergraduate Medical Education – Administrative Coordinator
Amorita currently serves as Administrative Coordinator for the Office of Curricular
Affairs. She has been in this position since January 2022. She is originally from
Buffalo, NY, by way of Baltimore. A personal interest of hers is traveling near or
far. The Office of Curricular Affairs handles guiding M1 – M4 students in the VA credentialing
process for rotations and acting interns. The department is also involved with M1
- M3 orientation and planning the M4 capstone, as well as organizing scheduling and
reserving room space for M1-M4 and grad classes.
Pharmacology, Physiology, and Neuroscience – Administrative Coordinator/HR Liaison
Shantia has been employed with USC for almost 13 years. She currently serves as the
Administrative Coordinator II/HR Liaison in the Pharmacology, Physiology, and Neurology
(PPN) Department at the School of Medicine Columbia. As a recent member of the inaugural
cohort of the Inclusive Excellence Institute, Shantia has a passion for inclusivity.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, cooking, reading, dancing,
event planning, and shopping.
Office of Information Technology – Broadcast Engineer
Gene is a Broadcast Engineer Maintenance Technician IV working with the USC SOMC since
2013. He manages the Dean’s Conference Center at Med Park 2 on the Prisma Health Richland
Campus scheduling and facilitating face to face and virtual meetings for faculty and
students in their third year rotations with the Specialty Clinics.
Library – Education and Outreach/Interlibrary Loan Specialist
Betty is the Education and Outreach/Interlibrary Loan Specialist at the School of
Medicine Library; she has worked in the Library for 15 years. Her duties include supporting
the assistant director for education and outreach and processing all of the Library’s
interlibrary loan transactions. In her spare time, she enjoys the company of her two
dogs, working on home improvements, gardening, reading, playing tennis, genealogy
research, visiting art exhibits, and traveling when her budget allows it.
