Your physical therapy team understands the importance of continuity of care. Continuity of care means the physical therapist who performs your initial evaluation will be the same physical therapist you see until you are discharged from physical therapy. Continuity of care has been shown to improve patient outcomes as well as patient satisfaction.
Physical Therapy is a fee-based service which means it is not covered by the student health fee paid with tuition. The fee for physical therapy is determined based on what type of treatment is needed and how long the treatment is performed. Please call 803-576-6384 with questions.
Insurance
The university student insurance health plan is the only in-network plan for Student Health. This plan covers Physical Therapy (PT) services provided at the Center for Health and Well-Being at 100 percent after a $20 co-pay is collected at the initial evaluation.
The plan covers up to 30 PT visits per insurance calendar year which runs August 1 to July 31 of the following year. All other health insurance carriers that are out-of-network at SHS.
Out-of-network physical therapy coverage varies between all health insurance carriers, and it is the responsibility of the patient to determine their out-of-network physical therapy coverage. Out of network charges do not necessarily mean more expensive fees. Coverages vary by insurance provider and overall charges depend upon copays and deductibles. Patients are responsible for all charges not covered by their insurance plan.
